LRF on Sendel TO3 Wheels
My wheels are 94 PSI wheels. Can I run LRF tires @ 94 PSI (cold) even though they will increase PSI over that during towing? I would think yes, as 80 PSI wheels are run at 80 PSI with higher pressures experienced during towing. Can’t find a number for Sendel to call them and they haven’t answered my email, yet. Would rather not run LRF at 80 PSI.
I would assume that the wheel PSI rating is a cold inflation limit allowing a pressure over that initial inflation as a result of the normal influences on pressure.

Sendel Customer Service phone number is 866.320.6891. I'm not sure where they are located and they are probably closed today anyway, but Monday should be "good to go"....

I think it depends on what size the wheel is. There are a bunch of different T03 wheels. http://www.trailer-wheels.com/T03-Se...eel_c_441.html

Way back when I called them about the absolute max psig on the 6 lug 16" wheels on our 5er, was told that 80 psig was top value and exactly what their catalog says. The drop down tab on their website's main page says 94 psig for both the 6 and 8 lug. A bit of a contradiction which they need to clarify.
Let us know what you find out and which is correct. Also, is that psig restriction only due to a pull through metal valve stem vs. a bolt in style as it was on the Eagle wheels on our last 5er or is it due to the wheels construction.

Dave W is correct, On the website http://sendelwheel.com/wheels/t03sm.html they list the wheels as:
T03-66655T 16x6 6/5.5 +0 4.25 3580 @ 94 PSI
T03-66866T** 16x6 8/6.5 +0 4.90 3580 @ 94 PSI
** 3580 LBS @ 94 PSI & CERTIFIED SAE J1204 SPECS
In the catalog (downloaded from the website) http://sendelwheel.com/resources/ima...elscatalog.pdf
16” 6 Lug Max Load 3,580 Max PSI 80 PSI
16” 8 Lug Max Load 3,580 Max PSI 94 PSI
The way I see it, on the website page for the T03 wheel they reflect the 6 and 8 lug wheels both at 3580 at 94PSI but in the catalog they reflect them differently. There is no indication of why the difference unless the ** indicates that the 8 lug style is certified by SAE and the others aren't, but that still doesn't explain why the difference between the catalog and the website.
Hopefully Manny will have an explanation after talking with the company on Monday.

The last time I checked the backside of my 16x6, six-lug wheels they indicated that 94 PSI was the max. They came with rubber valve stems and were replaced with metal stems when the china bombs were replaced with Maxxis tires at the first available opportunity after bringing the trailer home.

I was in the same situation a couple years ago. Sendel told me the ratings did not allow for expansion. They also told me the T03 was too light of a wheel for my Alpine. I went with LRF tires and ran them at 88 psi cold. The capacity was still better than the LRE tires so I felt better about it. Since then I’ve upgraded wheels to the T 11 and now have LRG tires.

The answer to the basic question is, yes, I can run LRF tires at 94 PSI cold if the wheel is stamped for 94 PSI or the equivalent weight rating. The approved wheels are rated for cold tire pressure with 20% over for pressure increase during use. Six-lug wheels may only be rated at 80 PSI and eight-lug wheels for 94 or 110 PSI. In reality, the six and eight lug wheels are the same casting, so the weight rating is essentially the same, as indicated by the dual weight rating or PSI rating indicated on the backside of the wheels. The wheels will list both six and eight-lug weight ratings on the wheel for liability reasons.
Obviously, I hope, that no one will exceed the axle weight rating when running LRF or LRG tires. The tire upgrade should only be for an increased margin between the combined axle weight rating and the combined tire weight rating.

The bottom line is 3580#, MAX.
It will be interesting to see what wheels Keystone will use if/when they start using the new ST235/80R16F rated at 3630# at 95 PSI.
On edit, a p.s.: Tire manufactures MUST provide a list of approved wheel/rim sizes for each tire they manufacturer. That's not the specs, just the size, example; 16 X 6.5 J. You will find those sizes on the vehicle's certification label. Specs are provided by the wheel/rim manufacturer in conjunction with SAE specs approval. Wheel/rim manufacturers must provide, on request, individual specs whenever they are not provided on the actual wheel/rim. Disputes can be resolved by reading the SAE spec sheet. (Each wheel/rim has one).
