Plate inside hitch broke.

So we are on our way to the east coast from a trip up to Canada, we are currently in Montana and noticed this on the hitch of the 5th wheel when I was walking around the rig today. I know 100% this was not like this when we left Canada.

The road going from Canada to Montana sucked. It was bumpy as all hell!
It seems like a weld popped on a plate inside the hitch and the plate is hanging down inside the hitch. Pics attached.
I tried to push it, but its not moving. We are due to head out in the morning. Does anyone know what this is?

What type of safety issue is this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That looks like part of the pin box, and shouldn't be a problem. It would be good to get that pin box repaired, but will require dropping it down to get it welded.
