Key TV

Picked up our Cougar in May and the second Key TV amp has gone bad. Both times the power light is off, but if you disconnect the coax going to the Winegard 360 antenna, the power light comes back on.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a way to see if the Winegard is pulling too much power and burning up the amp? Why does the Key TV amp need to be powered on 24/7 when the unit might be stored for weeks at a time?

If the KeyTV module light comes on when you disconnect the coax from the roof antenna, I would suspect a short in the coax or antenna.

Your antenna is “powered” through the coax and it only takes a single strand from the shielding to short it out. I would be looking at the coax ends, but it will have to be disconnected from both ends.

Removing the 360 from the roof isn’t difficult, you just have to peel back the sealant and replace it.
