Roof Sealants

I just purchased a Premier 19fbpr. I have read that it has a TPO roof. Would this be considered a Alpha TPO Roof?

I just installed a Fantastic fan and somewhat confused on what sealer to use. I plan on using Eternabond tape. But should I decide to use sealant should I use Dicor self leveling or Alpha sealant? I have read that Dicor could have a reaction to TPO?

First off you don't need to use eternabond. Use butyl tape on the bottom side of the vent flange, screw in all the screws and then cover the edges and screws with this:

when all else fails read the owners manual. The trailer is equipped with a "Alpha Superflex TPO Roof"

From the manual

....."Alpha products must be used on a unit with the Alpha System'....

I think that leaves out Dicor but not sure about Eternabond. I like using Eternabond for sealing vents it does a good job covering the old sealant...

JMO, but alpha is going to say use their products, read a Ford manual and it will say use Motorcraft.

If you look at the link I provided it says it is compatible with all TPO membranes. Anyway it's your trailer and your choice.

I've installed too many vents to keep count, and have never seen a need for eternabond tape. Haven't ever had one come back for any leaks. But again it's your trailer and your choice. You have to seal the edges of the eternabond , so IMO your adding a step and work that isn't needed.

On Dicor's link they do not say what color the Ultra is or if it's self leveling? My roof is tan color so if it only comes in white that would stand out quite a bit. Does anyone know if the Ultra comes in Tan or Beige?

This being my first TPO Roof my main concern is some kind of reation between Non Ultra Dicor (which comes in tan) or Eternabond which comes with its own built in primer.

I used Tan Dicor self leveling Lap sealant which is for TPO roofs on my 2015 Cougar Xlite with a Tan roof. The sealant is lighter in color than the roof but not as bright as white would be.

I think I am leaning towards the Alpha Sealant recommended in the owners manual. I already sealed the vent with butyl.

I am confused about the Alpha 1016 Low VOC Self Leveling and the 1021 High Solids Self Leveling Sealant? What different applications would these be used for? Both are for Horizontal applications...

Alpha says 1021 is a slightly modifed version of 1016. Reason? At least they come in beige....

Response from Alpha Systems

Hello Sir,

Yes, Eternabond tape can be used on our membrane, in fact it is what many manufacturers use to seal the edges on slide-outs that have our membrane on them.

Sorry, we do not offer a similar product at this time.

Thank you,

Monica McCabe
