Has anybody changed from grease to oil/wheel bearings?

I have Kodiak 7k on mine & was told I just have to change the seals to be set up for oil. But the guy from Morryde said he's seen them leak sometimes when sitting.
Maybe the correct seal wasn't used I don't know.

At least with grease, if the seal does not seal perfectly, you won't rapidly lose your lubrication like you would if you had oil inside the hub. I also haven't figured out how you add oil to the hub if that is what is wanted, unlike an axle on a truck where you add the oil at a fill hole in the differential housing.

If the zerk fittings were swapped for a filler spout, you could put oil in that way. The next problem would be that the dust caps on the hubs probably aren't fluid tight so they would have to be swapped for something that would positively seal.

I'll bet you the oil seeps past the rear oil seal 100% of the time.

I think they use 90 weight oil, not sewing machine oil on the ones I looked at.. No different then the rear axle seal in your truck holding oil. The "dust cap" gets screwed on the hub with an O ring to seal it. Cap has a see thru window to check oil level that opens for adding oil.

While I won’t do this on my 5th wheel, my boat trailer has them and zero issues. Towed it all over, Fresh and Salt water. No leaks.
