Curt, like many companies give the impression in there advertising that ALL there products are made in the USA, this is far from the truth.

On this forum, when tires are discussed, the conversation always goes to the Chinese built tires and the lack of QC with some manufactures and tire plants in China. Well, the same holds true with Steel production and fabrication. In todays world who knows where the steel was produced, what standards was it held to and how was handled in fabrication.

I have worked in a steel shot foundry with (2) 8 ton electric arc furnaces and then in a casting foundry with (3) 8 ton furnaces. In our side of the business we used scrap steel and added the proper ingredients after analysis to achieve the proper mix. No two heats were ever the same, but they were within range. Certified steels require more precision and documentation.

Draw Tite has a class 3 with 1200lb wd rating. My Curt is class 4 so wondering why the class 3 is rated the same.

75216 model number. Is this one recommend? Looks like an easy install.

Just dropped it off at Ford for the max tow hitch and wiring. Should've went that way in the beginning but oh well.

Looks like Ford used the same drawtite receiver I listed above that I recently found. It does secure to the truck with more points so it looks very sturdt.

The wiring now looks factory as well thankfully so now that I've spent a buttload of cash, I'm hoping to be good for awhile until I replace tires and work on the suspension. I'm thinking my next one will be ready to go from the factory. What a pain!

Yep, I've found over the years that it's hard to try to replicate what comes on a factory prepared vehicle.

For all us seasoned towers it took a lot of decades before they even offered something other than a bumper hitch much less a goose or fifth wheel hitch or pucks. Remember when we tied the trailer break controller into the truck brake hydraulic system, and none of them had any consideration for trailer lights. There were no door stickers or trailer towing guides to help us.

The first fifth wheel hitches I installed came with little or no instructions, just a reminder to attach it to the frame. I even designed and made several disappearing ball in the bed goose hitches.

Yes, truck manufactures and accessories have come a long way but so has the price.

I once made a class 3? hitch for a 1 inch tube insert due to new vehicle and none available about 1987. Hitch was great but, I did not know what grade 8 bolts where. 1st time towing the hitch tilted as the standard grade bolts bent.
