Generator fuel

Well we finally picked up our 2020 (when we ordered a 2019) impact 311. There were definitely some surprises. Carpet in the master ( not a good thing). Corner shower (good but they dropped the glass doors). Cabinets dropped. Washer/dryer hook up(plus) extra USB charging ports (plus). So they gave us 10 gallons of “regular “ fuel. We live in a rural area and use “ethanal free”/ farm fuel for generators, lawn mowers etc. would this Be O.Kto use in the generator?

Yes...just don’t let it sit in the lines too long. Follow it with some ethanol free and it will be fine

Thanks that is what I thought but you don’t want to screw up a new unit! Can’t wait to actually use it. Hopefully next week

I’m under the impression that most of us don’t have access to ethanol free. I can’t find it, so I just put stabil in it and hope it helps

Not sure if your in Texas or Kansas but this website tries to maintain a listing of places you can buy ethanol free gas in the US and Canada.

Just click or press on your state.

I've heard/read the blue Stabil for marine use works better for ethanol fuel.

I use red stabil 360 in my fuel when we not planning to run the generator and burn through all the gas in the tank anytime soon. I exercise the generator monthly by running it for an hour with the ACs going to load it. Not using it is for extended periods is worse. When we use our generator it runs non stop for 2-3 days when we boondock and keep our dogs in the rv.

I've got 3 generators ranging in size from 900 watts to 8500 watts. I use the smallest for short boondock camping and the largest for backup power for the house, (wired with a transfer panel). I use gas with no more than 10% ethanol treated with marine stabil and try to run each one at least every 3 or 4 months. If I haven't burned through a tank of gas a year I pump it out and use it for tillers, mowers, etc., then fill the generator with fresh gas. I would use ethanol free gas but find it too spendy for the amount I use. I use ethanol free strictly for boat motors.
