Don't take my word as gospel but I'm pretty sure OR doesn't license it for OR residents but if you're coming from a state where it is legal you can come into OR and go directly to your destination and back.

Richard,
I suppose it depends on your definition of "most states". Every state west of the Mississippi (except Oregon and Washington) allows double towing with a fifth wheel and some allow double towing with a travel trailer. East of the Mississippi, all states except the "eastern seaboard" allow double towing with a fifth wheel. So, the majority of states allow some form of double towing as opposed to "most do not allow"...... Florida doesn't "allow double towing" but if you ask those members who regularly double tow into and out of Florida, they'll tell you that they have not yet been stopped. That may not be the situation for "Florida licensed rigs" but the tourist dollar does speak loudly in what Florida LEO's turn their head to "not see".....

As a side note, Bulletowner made the statement "if you're coming from a state where it is legal you can come into OR and go directly to your destination and back."
I am of the opinion that this is not true. Oregon state statutes are not friendly to Oregonians NOR to out-of-staters double/triple towing on their highways.
If Brenda and I get stopped in a state which doesn't allow the triple tow then I simply back the bike off the trailer, hook it behind the bike/sidecar rig and tow on down to the next truck stop and wait for nightfall and then sneak out of town. (Yes, the bike is wired to tow a trailer)
Most triple-towing can't pull that off.

Its not legal to double tow into Oregon unless it's a comm. vehicle. Rvs do not nor cannot comply with the law if you read through the whole thing. Yes some come through, many seen near the CA/OR border. Is the officer you pass by going to stop and cite you? Most traffic cops will, it's their job.
It was a proposed Oregon law with restrictions about 15 years ago. It did not get to the floor for a vote. I beleive the law was not opposed by OSP but never confirmed that. I never heard the reasons why it was opposed in committee.

Thanks for the update. Most of our towing is east of the Mississippi. I’m from Florida and it is not allowed.

Just to muddy up the topic, I did not list that a licensed transporter can pull 2 TTs as some do from Eastern OR RV builders to PDX area dealers. You will see them on I-84. That would fall under comm. vehicles, but with 1 tons and bigger.

Rick, if Ken can muddy up the waters them I’ll add some to it. We see more triple towing in Florida than any other state.
