Max safe water pressure?

How much is safe? At KOA lady said we have 85 psi you should use a regulator, so I am but it's just the cheap Camco one & as usual when I use it get hardly any flow. Maybe all it does is restrict the flow. I'm gonna get a real one I can adjust someday.

I have my adjustable regulator set at 60#. Seems to be good with no leaks so far. Would not go any higher.

I'm happy with 45#psi max. Great for a shower, but the bowl doesn't suck you in if you flush while still "mounted"! LOL

Some of the larger cg's have as much as 110#psi, so invest in a quality "REGULATOR", not just a cheap restrictor type of unit. You'll pay more up front, but it's worth it compared to water damage, and re-plumbing costs when you have a blow-out. It's also a pretty good idea to turn your water off at the pedestal when leaving the campsite, as hoses have bee knowh to rupture etc...

Good Luck,

Never leave the water faucet to your RV on when away from the rv, even if only gone for a few hours. Also get a real regulator & always use it, you never know about the campgrounds water supply, if a pump kicks at night or any other unknown, you'll be covered with the regulator already attached.
At 60 psi you should be good, would not recommend anything more.
The pex water lines in these things are rated at well over 100 psi, but who knows what the "cheap as you can buy" plastic fittings are rated for.
It been said before, 2 things that should be connected EVERY time you use your RV; #1 water pressure regulator, #2 surge protector/EMS!!!!!

I'm good at 45-50psi with an adjustable regulator. Your plumbing is only as good at the weakest link. Most newer trailers have Pex plumbing so the pipes can withstand higher pressure. However, the faucets aren't usually the highest grade to I would be wary of their capabilities.

OP just replace that Camco restrictor with a good adjustable pressure regulator. The Camco literally cuts ANY water pressure back no matter how low it is - basically it is just aggravating.

About 50-55psi is where we stay. Tried 45 but it just seemed too low. I wouldn't want to set it any higher than 60. And as some mentioned, water pressures can vary all over the place; from a drizzle to blast rust off of a rusty pipe.

Most Shurflo and FloJet water pumps produce roughly 3 gallons per minute at 45PSI. I set my adjustable pressure regulator at 45PSI to "match the water pump output". It works for us and we see very little difference between "dry camping water pressure" and "city water pressure"...

With all the "cheap Chinese plastic fittings and faucets that are held together with "potentially substandard crimped fittings installed by a "hurry so we can get out of here" workforce, that's being dragged at 65MPH on the "nicest of all roads" that cause twisting, turning and vibrations on all that "questionable plumbing".... So, for me, I'd prefer not to have "superior pressure and comfort" at the expense of waking up to wet carpet in the bedroom. YMMV

We have our pressure regulator set at 55 psi, but may adjust down to 45 psi after reading this post. Agree with traveling Texans - always turn off the water when leaving the RV. Friends of ours came back to a flooded RV after going out for dinner.

Has anyone looked closely at the high grade Chinese made plastic plumbing fixtures in their trailer? 40 PSI for this boy.

Has anyone been driving through a campground and like Danny mentioned, a trailer owner left the water tap at the pedestal on and you could see water running out below the trailer? Awkward situation and about the only thing you can do is tell the office if there is no one around the flooding trailer. How long does water have to flood to total a trailer?

Thanks. How much pressure does the pump put out?

I think John already mentioned gallons per minute at 45 PSI. Might be a tad more or less but I doubt you will go outside those norms very far.

We have tried setting out regulator at 45 psi but it only took about two showers before we boosted it back to 60 psi. And there simply isn't a 'bowl-cleaning' flow at 40-45 in our unit. The same was true in our Raptor.

The pump in our trailer is rated for about 40-45PSI (IIRC) and we set our reg at 45. The shower is a bit whimpy at that, but we don't care. When we got our TT new, I had to crank down some of the plastic connectors pretty hard to stop a couple of leaks. That convinced me to set the reg pressure to similar to the output pressure of the pump. Also, we had a pump non-return-valve jam because of a high pressure hookup at one CG before I got the reg. I had to disassemble the pump to find out why it wasn't pumping water even though I could hear the motor running.
