Added lights to rear carrier on Avalanche.

Have a 2013 Avalanche 5th wheel, purchased a small golf cart, rear carrier to carry cart but blocks one tail light. Added lights ( running, stop, turn) LED but
Can not get to work.
Found bundle of wires under back right, had correct color match but nothing.
The lights on trailer work but not add on two.

Do you have a good positive ground? Like wire to the trailer frame.

On many trailers the color of the wire can change between the front connector and the rear connection. On my trailer the wires going to the tail light/turn signals are not the same color as they are on the umbilical connector. So, you might have a similar situation.

You indicated that you're using LED lights. Most LED's are "polarity sensitive" meaning the + must be connected to POS and the - must be connected to the NEG or the lights won't work. You may get them to function by reversing the connections ???? Then again, maybe not, but worth a try. Let us know what you find.....

Added tail lights

Ran a wire from truck battery ground to wires in back and checked with test light, nothing. Have I got the wrong wires?

Try battery + and battery - jumpers straight to the fixtures just to prove lights themselves. Ground shouldn't normally be a problem because you're probably "frame grounded", based on your set-up, but some aftermarket fixtures require a separate ground wire, because of the possibility of fiberglass mounting points. By running 12v power straight to lights with independent 12v +/- leads, you prove the light fixtures themselves. If the lights work, the problem is trailer wiring, if not the problem is the lights themselves.

You can double check your leads with a multi-meter, or test probe with a known good bulb to prove 12 volts to the trailer bulbs.

Good Luck,

Lights to rear carrier

Thank all of you for your suggestions.
We have 8 inches of snow here in Michigan, and cold.
We are leaving for Texas first of year, will work on it down there.
Thanks again,
Gus
