Campfire Chatter - New Forum Category

In an effort to give interested members an opportunity of socialize or chit-chat on the forum, we are creating a new category called "Campfire Chatter".

This forum is intended for posts that, while they may have a minor connection to RV's and RVing, their main focus is not about either. This new section will be implemented on a trial basis and depending upon the feedback we get from you and its use, it may become a permanent feature.

In keeping with our forum rules and policy, there will be no discussion about politics or religion and any such posts will be deleted. In addition, the Moderators may, at their discretion, move posts into this new forum if it is felt it would be the best placement for them.

Examples of "Campfire Chatter" posts and topics:

#1 A member is planning a short trip to Somewhere, CA and wants to tell members where he is going, for how long and perhaps provide an activity up-date from time-to-time. Normally, this kind of post has been submitted in the Campground and Destination section. Since he is not asking any details about the campground, submitting a personal review of it or things for others to see and do while there, it really doesn't fit into the descriptors of that category. Basically, he is informing our members that he is simply going away camping. This new forum would be a good fit for this type of post.

#2 Member B's daughter is getting married OR Member C just gave birth to a baby girl.

#3 Our 2nd cousin from Virginia is coming in their new Passport and we will be going to the races with them.

#4 While camping, we saw 2 deer, a bald eagle and roasted marshmallows over the campfire.

#5 It's raining here now and we are supposed to be going camping. It's also raining there. (weather stuff)

These are some examples and hopefully they will provide you with a sampling and guide to the type of posts that would fit into this new forum. We realize it is sometimes difficult to choose which is the best category for your post. If you examine the criteria/descriptors for each forum before submitting your post, that will provide you with a pretty good guide for placement.

If you have any questions or concerns about this new category, please contact one of the Moderators (hankpage; KanTC; antiqfreq; JRTJH; Festus2).

Thank you

Sounds good, many forums have an area like this. I always thought the odds and ends section was something like that but this is better. Thanks

Gary -

The Odds 'n Ends section of the forum, even though it might be described as a "catch all" is still intended for RV related stuff. "Stuff" that really doesn't fit in any other category.
We hope that Campfire Chatter will work and that people don't get upset if their post gets moved to this new section. The post will still remain intact but it will be found in a new location.

Sounds great, one more idea for consideration is a cooking area. Were we could post ideas and recipes. One problem with that is to make the most out of it you almost need to brake that up into 4 or 5 category’s Breakfast lunch dinner and desert and some have drinks. Just an ideas. Thanks for all you guys do. I love the site and it’s been a great tool.

Actually, we do have a place on here for those who want to talk about camp food, recipes, and campground cooking. If you look in our Community forum (see blue bar at top of page) click on that >>>> Social Groups>>>>. Kamp Kitchen.
I realize that this forum is more or less "hidden away" and there are probably many people who do not realize it even exists. But there is a place for cooking ideas and recipes.
Back in the early days of the forum, your idea was discussed but it was thought at that time that there are tons of cooking and recipe sites already on the Internet and having another one here was redundant.
Thanks for giving a thumbs up on our new category.
