keystone problems

hello my name is crabbyone. I own a 2010 keystone 312 bh with outdoor kitchen. I am not sure how many owners have had this problem. One all the screws that hold the cabinet doors on are to short and come out when being pulled around and then when u open a door it just about falls off in your hands. second problem is the struts on the kitchen door are to close and put to much pressure on the door. My struts ripped the screws right out of the door, customer service suggested using bigger screws, but guess what, they left bigger holes when the were ripped out. Keystone said they have fixed the problems on the new ones, but would do nothing for me, so if u are looking at the out door kitchen I would suggest not buying a keystone product, i will never buy one again....

I am have read about this issue either on this forum or the Outbackers.com forum. One guy came up with a modification that provided reinforcement to the strut mounting and it looked good. Try doing a search on the forums, it was a common problem with the 2010 models.

I have the 2011 312BH and use the outdoor kitchen almost every weekend as we kept it at an extended stay site in Galveston, TX. The only issue I had was where the strut attached. The stud on the bracket was pressed in (like a pop rivet) and came out after a few uses.

I drilled out this fitting and replace with one that I could bolt in and have not had any issues since. I always kept a hand on the door when opening and when I close, I use equal pressure pulling down on the door. Has worked for us.


I also check each screw periodically to insure they are tight.
