More warranty issues "AC this time"

I have a 2015 Raptor with 2 air conditioners, they will not cool the unit. I took it to shop shortly after purchasing it and was told the ac's were putting out the correct temperature per specs and charged me $75 for an hour of labor...keystone wouldn't pay because it "worked as advertised".
If it is above 85 degrees this unit will not cool below 80 degrees. I have recently emailed keystone and had it checked out again(another $75) and it was within specs again, but still will not keep unit cool.
I have talked with several Raptor owners that said because of the darker colors used on the new ones, the ac will not keep up. Keystone hasn't heard any complaints about that, but I'm sure we would have had to specifically tell them that we think that is the problem(common sense).
The latest email I received from keystone was recommendations to park in a shaded area, keep all vents open, try not to park in full sun, close blinds, start ac up early in morning to give it a head start.....sorry, but unacceptable
I spent about 6 hours the other day opening up the AC and checking all the vent openings to verify they were sealed. I used half a roll of duct tape and some foam to seal up the gaps, lots of air going into the ceiling. There wasn't even a divider between the intake and output on the ac unit, just recirculating cold air.
We had a few cold mornings so I figured I'd check out the heater too. 85 in the bedroom and 70 in the living area, 60 in the garage. WOW!
I spent another day cleaning up ducting and spent my own money to buy vents I can close for the bedroom so I can regulate the temp better. I let Keystone know about my efforts to correct the issues but haven't heard back from them yet...still not sure if AC will work, hasn't been above 70ish this week.
I'm sure they figure if I keep getting charged labor for an AC that is within specs that I will give up and go away, well not me! Something needs to be done to help these things stay cooler, even in the middle of an asphalt parking lot on a 110 degree day!!

I' sorry for your troubles. I hope it works out, as I'm sure there's a logical solution. Does the air seem cool at the vents? How about air flow? Also consider that some a/c units have two positions on their face, either ducted or direct discharge. (see attached thumbnails)

I'm even more concerned about a dealer charging you a diagnostic fee on a basically "NEW" unit. What gives? Was that your selling dealer? Contact Good Sam if so! What ever happened to "Customer Satisfaction", it seems if you won't demand it ..... they wont deliver it!

p.s. get over your 110 degree expectations... !

Do you have the whisper air deluxe with duel 15000 btu units?

The reason I asked, I used my 2016 Alpine 3011 for the first time the other day and even with the temps in my area around 78 still felt warm. We are going to Florida in June and I'm worried that we are going to bake inside.

It's a maxflo zone control system, both units are ducted together to move the air better....
My last unit was a 37' toy hauler, one ac and it would freeze you out on the hottest days...I guess I got a little spoiled, but is was a white one...
It isn't being serviced by the selling dealer, bought it in Va., live in S.C., but the shop I use is great!

I had a cougar xlite before my Alpine and it too would freeze you out. The Alpine also has zone 1 and 2 whisper air deluxe both 15000 btu and it's no way near as cold. Looks like I better start getting a backup plan.

I would be interested to know how they determined "proper operation". These units can be checked for correct refrigerant charge without tapping into it and using gauges.
Also, drop the return air grill/filter and check for cold air coming from the blower. If you feel any, break out the duct tape again.

The conditioned air was 15-20 cooler than intake air temp. That's industry standard. My AC manual also states that ac won't keep up if heat gain of RV is too much. Seems to be the issue with the darker colored rvs.
I was in the grill already, baffle between input and output was nonexistent...

That's right.. they check for the delta of incoming to outgoing air and call it good. They were right, the ACs were functioning properly, they were just installed in shoddy ducting... There are a few pictures of Keystone duct work running around.

I'd want my $75x2 back.. But I wish you luck.

Interesting. I have a full body paint black/grey 404. I have 2 15k btu ducted ac. Even in full sun they keep the unit below 74. That being said, if it's above 80 inside when I start up it does take time to cool, hours.

Once cool though, they keep up with the heat gains in the unit. Even in summer down south I can keep the unit below 74.

Are the units ducted? I would first suspect blockage in the ducting, or that they may not be lined properly. I know on mine I looked in the ducts and removed various bits of insulation and construction debris.

With an infrared temp gauge I usually get about 25-30 degrees below ambient air temp out of the units.

Does having the awning out help any...shade on one side? Slide toppers?

Ambient meaning inside or outside temperature? You should get an 18-20 degree split across the coil on a properly charged unit. Outside temperature is irrelevant in determining proper operation.
All in all, 74 degrees is not a bad number for a dark painted unit.
