07 Passport 240QS Slideout wiring

Hello forum! Newbie here - so apologies if this post is in the wrong forum. Searching did not show me anything applicable.

This model has a slideout in the back for the bed. It's stiff moving it (manual - not electric) but the former owner(s) obviously never heard of lubrication... But I digress There is a light in the ceiling of the slideout & it is not getting any power (pulled it off & checked with voltmeter). Fuses all test OK.

I cannot figure out where the wires go into the trailer itself. Any ideas?

TIA

There might be a plug near the floor and an outlet that you plug into to provide 12V to the light in the ceiling. You have to have the slide extended to see it and you have to unplug before you push the slide back in.

Try opening the slide with a window/door open, it may reduce the Vacuum/pressure created.

Thanks for the speedy reply!

This slideout does not go all the way to the floor - the bottom is about knee-high inside the trailer. It also slides fine now that I've lubed it. Next thing is to replace the handles for pulling it out that the FO popped off because of how stiff it was. At least the trailer was clean & cheap - though it'll be getting all new wheel bearings & tires.

There are no plugs around the inside of the slideout & the bottom of the slider itself is smooth plastic - no wires showing there.

I'm guessing the wires must be run through the back wall into the ceiling or maybe in the bottom. They are not on top of the slider. My hope is to find out where they are run so I don't have to tear everything apart.

Yes - a battery "closet" light might be in my future...

Your slide is most likely a bed. Often times the connection can be hard to see. I would put the slide in about 6 inches and look again. It will be simply 2 wires with a small connector and the plug should be on the wall of the trailer under the slide.

Well - it's egg on face time. Yes, there is a jack - hidden by a seat cushion so I didn't see it right away. At first I didn't see any way to connect it to the slider, but after pulling the bottom trim piece of the slideout, I found some wires.

I went to the local dealer for a replacement plug to fit it & they completely blew me off because it's a 2007. So much for them. However, I lucked out & found the original plug & wires buried under the bathroom sink. Now I just have to reconnect it.

Thank you very much for your help!

ETA: It's all put back together & works as it should. The wire had obviously been left connected when someone pushed in the slideout. New connectors fixed that - though I made them disconnectible on the slideout end so they'd disconnect rather than break the plug.
