Broken Bunkhouse Glass Window
Was wondering if anyone has experienced an unexpected bunkhouse window shattering?
I have a brand new Cougar and this is the second time getting it out to go camping. We went from sea level to about 4,000'. The temperature difference was only about 10 degrees.
I know I didn't hit anything, and the window was latched down. So a couple of possibilities:
1) The window was damaged from a rock flying from the road and hit the top bunk about 10' high?
2) The manufacturer has had a defective window?
Any input would be great.
Thanks!
Duane

We love the trailer. I was just shocked about the window. Check yours out and hopefully all is well.

Is it a “frameless” window? If so I have heard of them breaking if not closed tight for travel. I would try for warranty replacement.

Thanks chuckster57. Yes, it is frameless. I was just shocked to hear that I had to wait until February 28th and that I need to use a tarp in the meantime.
I didn't think service would take so long...

If your dealer is going to replace under warranty, have them submit the claim now. Warranty work can take a bit of time with all the hoops the dealer has to jump through.
You should be able to forward pics by email to them, and then they can submit to factory for authorization. After authorizing the repair, the dealer has to order the part. 4-6 weeks isn’t that uncommon for large parts. It has to be crated and then shipped via truck.

It's a shame, but normal, that ordering larger parts takes a long time to get from the manufacturer. It's that way across the spectrum. Hopefully they can get yours in in short order and get you back to camping.

Thank you sourdough and chuckster57.
I'll get to measuring and ensure they get the pictures for ordering the part. Either way, warranty or not, (i'm hoping warranty), the window needs to be fixed.

Is that something a glass company could replace ? Might be better than a tarp for two months. IMOP.

You might want to make sure the frame/cutout/window is square. Maybe the hole was cut off square putting a bind on the window? I've heard of windows shattering going down the road but it's not common in my experience. A rock hitting the window on the side, with a glancing blow, would have to be quite something to break that window IMO. Wishing you the best in getting this resolved quickly.

Thanks guys! I was trying to post a pic of the tarp job, but for some reason unable on the quick reply.
Anyway, I'll post up after the results of the service visit. Hopefully Keystone will step up on this.
