Furrion Hard Wiring

Hello all: I have asked locally but they are unsure of the following:
I have a 2017 28RES Cougar 5th that came hard wired for the Furrion Camera.
My question is does any member have any idea where this is powered from?
I have been told it will only handle the back up system as it is only wired to the reverse and others say it is wired into the running lights and therefore will accept the Observation system.
I want to add the Furrion FOS48TAPK-BL Wireless High-Speed RV Observation System but do not want to spend the money if the system is wired for reverse only.
Thanks
Chuck

What little I saw tells me the Cord is just a power cord. Cant tell you for sure if its hooked up to Power or just reverse.
I'm sure you could take the cover plate off and check it. It really is nothing more than a round jack. See what make it juice up!
Then come back and let us know and we can let you know if your right! lol

Most Cougars do not have reverse lights and the wiring is "clipped short" at the trailer umbilical (dead ends in the junction box at the pinbox). If you have operational reverse lights on the back of your trailer, you may have a "reverse only camera" wiring option. Otherwise, I'd almost bet it's wired into the running lights, typically the center light on the back of the trailer. On most trailers, it's just a "10 inch pigtail" clipped onto the running light wire.

Not sure on your Cougar but on my Raptor the camera appears to wired separate from RV running lights because its working with or without lights on.

Once you get a chance to do some exploring, let us know what you find so it's available for the next person who is wondering about the same thing....

If your unit has the housing mounted on the rear cap, the power wiring will be inside it. If not and you buy the “kit”, it comes with the housing and power wiring. One end will have 2 wires stripped back a little bit, one red (12V positive) and one black (12V negative). The other (camera) end has a plug that the camera pigtail plugs into.

Most common power feed is as stated above, center marker light. For a time, Grand design was wiring it to the battery at the junction box of the umbilical cord.

Update

Well after all the looks and reviews I purchased the Observation System. The prewired Terminal jack on my Cougar is tapped into the Running lights and therefore activates when my F 150 Headlights are taken out of the Auto position and selected to Lights. I am getting a Voltage of 11.8 with the Camera plugged in and activated and the WI FI range is at least 125 feet without moving. Unable to road check the video quality and distances until the spring and out of storage. It is unfortunate that the screen size is not bigger. I would gladly pay a bit more for a 7"inch screen for monitoring down the highway. So far, happy with the purchase.
