I wanted to change my indoor speakers...
But I did not like the covers that come with the aftermarket units.
With a little time and my dremel tool I was able to cut the backs out of the old speakers and use them as trim/cover mounting rings for the new ones.
Looks the same, sounds much better, the stock units are garbage.
I am thinking I can probably do the same with the outdoor speakers.

Mud sounding speakers, like listening to the ball game on an old portable transistor am radio. Maybe that's why Keystone uses this quality of OEM speakers in its coaches. To replicate the era of radio broadcasting from the 50s and 60s. In essence, you and I both devalued our coaches in the eyes of the manufacturer.

Ok, I have been wanting to change my speakers, but for the life of me I can't figure out how the factory grilles come off. I am afraid to break something. A twist or pull. Both feel like the ceiling will give before the grill.
What is the trick?

Mine just twisted off, probably less than a 1/4 turn, counter clockwise.

What size speaker did you fit inside?
I replaced the exterior with 5.25" Polks. They sound so much better.

I bought these 5.25" Kenwoods, from amazon.
What model Polk did you use for outside?
My kids talked me into this bluetooth speaker and I used it the last time we were out... way better than the OEM outside speakers, sounded great inside the coach too.
I have most of my CD collection ripped to mp3 and the radio in the coach does not like the 128G thumb drive I have the files on, so I have to manage shuffling files onto a smaller, 32G thumb drive... it is a pain.
Thanks,
-Brian

I used these speakers.
I have an Ecoxgear portable bluetooth speaker when we go down to the water or away from the RV.
I did something similar with my music. I put everything I have on a microSD card in my Android phone (128GB card). I also have Amazon Music Unlimited. You can cache any of the online music and playlists to the phone. This combination allows me to listen to music when I don't have cell service.
Now to convince the DW that we need new interior speakers. She thought the exterior speakers were a waste until she heard them. Pretty much anything will sound better than the speakers from the factory.

Thanks for the link, did you reuse the OEM grills, or the ones that came with the new speakers?
Not sure I am a fan of the new grills, but maybe I could use the same process I did for the interior speakers.

I used the new grills. I don't think you could cut it like the inside.

I found some Pioneer speakers for $15 (from $45) on Amazon, so I bought them. Now, I need to see how many discs I have for my dremel.
