What is the clearance for bridges and diesel station canopies for an Alpine 3600RS 5th Wheel?

says the unit is 12'8" tall. don't know where they measured to. (without A/C?)

I'd like a foot for comfort.. so 13'6".

was just thinking about that for my 3720. - height reported at 135 inches to top of A/C. thats 11'4"

Will if you fill-up at diesel truck stops you should not have a problem at all the semis trailers clear and your not that tall.

Now as far as bridges go on interstates you should not have any issues but on state highways and local roads you may have issues.

I use a Rand McNally RV GPS I have the 7700 model which is a couple of generations old but I do have life time maps, the new model is 7720 LM. In these you can program several parameters one of which is the height of the 5er and this will rout you around low clearance bridges and underpass.

In using mine I have never had an issue whenever I pull; mine is on.

There is an app for iPhone called Trucker Path. It will show low clearance bridges and other helpful items. I measured my Alpine 3250RL to the top of the bedroom AC and got 13'.

Measure your own rig first!

Figure out what you need and then worry later. Our Monty with a vent cover on the BR measures 13' 4", so I wrote 13' 6" on the top edge of my windshield to remind me what to worry about. Don't know for certain what the standard is, but I do know that everything less than 14' clearance has signs telling you what it is. So far, we've never had any problem at all.

Most 18 wheelers are 13' 6". As long as you are on truck routes, you should be ok.

Utility line clearance

Most of my camping places are not where you would find 18 wheelers and lots of lines cross these roads that are state and local, even some private utilities.

I just found out from the local ATT contractor that the phone line must be no lower than 14'. He said the Southern Bell requirement was 10'.

I told him that I wasn't aware of any RV's that were less than 10' even wo AC.

He said well not many people have RV's.

Here at my home, the power pole hierarchy is power, cable, phone (top to bottom). Measure to the bottom line and that will give you your local number; in many cases.

Happy Trails Y'all

Nice Option to have for your Tow Vehicle

I think the problem for most people, myself included, you don't think about height most of the time when driving, and then when your towing, you still don't. Someone needs to come up with a warning device that notifies you when approaching an overhead structure. As we all know, tree branches can damage your RV too!
Of I already have a warning device for most stupid acts, but I mean for the clearance issue, as my wife has most of the other times covered.

As evidence, one of our neighbors had a motorhome that he would park next to his house, and there were low wires across the way, but he'd usually just have his wife prop them up with a board. One time, and that's all he was allowed, the wire hit on the AC, and caught his Motorhome on fire, and it was a total loss.

This may sound kind of basic, but I discovered the overall height(12' 8") as advertised is pretty close on our 2013 Alpine 3555rl. This height is with the fiver sitting level on the ground, not hooked to tow vehicle. However a lot of different things can change that height.
Our pole building door is 13' exactly, but the fiver will not clear the door. How can this be?? I discovered that, because the driveway in front of the door is very slightly sloped up and since the truck is still on this slope when the fiver is entering the door, it raised the fiver to 13' height. I was able to overcome this problem by dropping the air bags down to 5 lbs from 55 lbs. This gives me 1" of clearance under the door. I have never measured the height hooked up, but in my situation I would guess the height to be about 13' traveling down the road.

A lot of people have responded to the OP, but only the most recent post gave any indication of what he was looking for.

The ONLY way to know what your rig's height is when on the road ready to travel is to hitch up, get on a level, firm surface and put a ladder next to your RV. Climb on top, find the tallest part, put a 2x4 on top of that, use a level to get the 2x4 level with the ground, then measure from the bottom of the 2x4 to the concrete. That will give you YOUR travel height. Remember to add a couple of inches (I added 12) for a "safety margin" and always check your own rig's height. Taking the word of someone with "the same rig" may well put you several inches in error. Remember, all tires aren't the same height, adding air bags changes travel height, adding vent covers, a second A/C and even adding extra cargo in the front storage compartment will change the travel height.

Each of the comments here is valid, they all can help prevent accidentally damaging your RV, but until you actually climb on it and measure, EVERY accounting of what other people have measured is, at best, a rough guess!!!!!

Do your own travel height measuring and be sure where you stand.

Those pesky stray tree branches can also present a problem.
