Our first camping trip...
...has been booked! I drive for a school district and our spring break is the last week of March. Friday the 22nd is a half day... I'll get off and it's off to a small RV park just a few miles out of town. This will be our "shake-down" cruise... a work up, if you will. (Former Navy folk know what I'm referring to.) As I hit the confirm button, I said to the wife, "This is it... rain or shine, hell or high water, we're booked!" Well, being this park is right along a river, high water might be a mitigating factor.

Enjoy. When I was growing up my family had a name for our tent camper. It was the Ark because it always rained. Fortunately that hasn’t been the case with the ones we have owned.

I'm so ready for this even if it rains. As a kid I've slept in the loft of a camper when it was raining. I was all cozy and dry while I listened to the pitter patter of the rain. Slept like a baby. Good memories.

Any day camping is better than the best day working. Shake it down well.

Right on! Hope all goes well. Our first "camping trip" was just basically a loop from home to a spot 60 miles away, then to another spot about 150 miles away. On the last leg home, we stopped at an RV dealer and traded our non-slide 197 Jayco in for a slide 197. My wife had never been camping in a trailer.
Since then, we've covered a lot of miles, mostly in SK, MB, AB, BC, YT, NWT.

I am a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association (CMA) and I just found out our state coordinator is coming to town next month to conduct some officer training. He is doing so on his own nickel so instead of him reserving an expensive motel room, our little TT will be the perfect place for him to lodge! It will also be part of our shake-down. I'm loving it.

Might you know something the Kootnea Lake area of BC? Kaslo area in particular. We are hoping to pull our TT up there this summer.

Welcome and congrats! Just reading this post has me ready to get out there. Hopefully we will take our next trek over the MLK weekend! I too enjoy the sound of rain on the trailer but, hate packing up in the rain. Heck, I just hate packing up come to think of it. Enjoy your shake down!!

I'm retired and my wife works for a school as well, we took advantage of Christmas break and put our camper in the camp ground on the 1st of Jan. But it has been in the high 60's here in NC.
