Rockwood 8289ws purchase

Thinking of purchasing this camper and wanted to get opinions or experiences from the group. Also looking at Rockwood travel trailer. They just seem to be a better quality trailer

I believe this is an entry level or a little higher Forrest River unit. RV show a two weeks ago they had a couple in the low $40's. That about what you're looking at?

I guess the quality aspect is in the eye of the beholder and depends on what level of trailer you are buying/comparing. When we bought our last TT a Rockwood was on our short list. We had told every dealership we wanted the best, most luxurious TT each manufacturer made. In the end our Keystone won and it was the lack of quality, to us, that made the Rockwood fail.

Look at the edges of the floors, along the bottom/edges of the slides and doors from the inside. See any light? Uneven/loose seams? Push on the wall panels; check the wood used for doors/drawers; check the type of slides used in the drawers etc. You've probably done all that but in our analysis it didn't cut the muster (light at all corners of the slides as one example). Good luck on making your decision.

We have a 2011 Rockwood 8265WS which has been a very good camper. had a couple items early which the dealer took care of, but for a light weight fifth wheel I have been very happy with ours. I pull with a F-150 Ford and it pulls great. We are thinking of a bigger camper and truck in the future but until then this has been good camper for us.

I traded in a FR TT after 4 years. The problems were always numerous and I finally had enough. The quality i wanted was not there. The best thing to do is go to FROG forums and read about the whats lacking in that company. After that go Read about all the recalls.

Currently own a 365MB. Glad I made the switch to keystone. If you would like more info PM me.
