New from wny...

Just bought a new 260LHS, haven't picked it up yet...a bunch of negative reviews. Wondering if we made a mistake. Any feedback is appreciated. Can't sleep on the ground anymore.

Welcome to the forum

How many is a "bunch"? When you start looking at internet reviews about RV's, you need to separate the bad unit from the bad dealer reviews.

Along with that as a rule, people who are happy tend to post much less than those not happy.

Wait until you have your unit and have taken it out a couple of times before you decide if the negative reviews are warranted.

Guess after the dust settled we got a little gun shy. If you look long enough, you can find bad reviews on everything.

The excitement about buying our first trailer has returned and we're planning several trips this summer.

You will have problems with anything you buy eventually. Some surface sooner than others, some people make more of an issue than others. If you think you are buying a Mercedes, think again. Unfortunately the RV industry is driven more by price competition than quality. If you go into it with that realization/mentality and deal with the issues that come up from time to time, you will enjoy many years and great memories in your new camper.

This is Mrs. 84bman...we have not picked it up yet, so we have time to back out. We wanted feedback on the Keystone brand. Thank you Brent and Nicki, you summed it up perfectly for me! So excited.

Considering the RV industry sells about 300,000 units a year, the amount of problems found online are miniscule. If you are someone with a bad unit then it seems the RV industry sucks. I will say most problems I read about are minor and ones I would just fix on my own. For the big ones the dealer can really make the difference in the outcome. We bought our TT 2 years ago. For an entry level TT we love it. No problems and well built. One thing to remember when you see how some things are built. They may not have been built that way to just save cost, weight is a huge factor. If I built my TT it would weigh at least another 1000lbs! Congrats and most importantly enjoy the time spent camping with family and friends.

Good luck on your first TT. The DW and I started out with a 28 ft Wilderness and lived in it on weekends while we built our house. It worked for us for a year and then we upgraded to a 30 ft Kodiak. now we have a 35 ft 5er and now looking at a 40 footer. It is a disease they keep getting bigger. After looking up what you are getting it looks good for a starter.

Keystone has been good for us and Hideout is probably a great place to start. Like anything, take care of it and it should be good to you. Good luck and enjoy, all will be good.

to the forum and congrats on your new RV. I can only echo what has been said. Keystone is a good brand and will work with you. Your dealer, good or bad, will make all the difference in the world.

When you pick your unit up make sure you take a copy of the PDI list on this forum so that you can go thru the unit in great detail to hopefully eliminate many, if not all, of those annoying first week failures that start to make a person unhappy. If it were me I would email a copy of it to the service manager so they can prep the unit knowing what you are going to be looking at. I don't know where your dealer is but I hope they are close. If so, take the time to introduce yourself to the service manager and the owner/GM to establish an amiable relationship up front.

Once you have completed the PDI with the dealer take a short trip, go to a local park or someplace where you can use ALL the systems to make sure there is not some major malfunction. The closer to the dealer the better. After that, pull out the Good Sam catalog, Passport America or whatever you want to use and start planning some great trips for the family.

Good luck with your new RV. I'm sure you will love it and take it out and make some memories!

We've owned many campers over the years from a variety of manufacturers. Our experience overall has been extremely positive every time. Our Keystone is no exception.
