Mich. to Virginia Beach

We would like to take the fifth wheel to see our granddaughter in Va. Beach. Looking for the best route to avoid those 5 mile grades that we've been on travelling I64, I68,70, etc.

There is no way of avoiding crossing the mountains without going far, far out of your way that I'm aware of. I would recommend that you avoid the I95 corridor from Boston to Richmond, VA. The Washington D.C Capitol Beltway, I 495, is a nightmare on a good day.

Yeah I agree with flybouy afraid there is no other way but over the mountains unless you go way out of the way.

I understand we have to cross the mountains, we have made the trip many times in the car, and three or four different routes. Just thought there might be a route that didn't have such big elevation changes like 5 mile grades up and down.
