One key for everything!

Just finished redoing the side doors and storage compartment locks on our TH to use a single key. Previously, the main door and garage door used 2 different keys, and the lockable compartments all used the infamous CH751 universal key (3 keys total).

Fewer keys on my key ring, no more hunting for the "right" key, trying to read the tiny numbers in the dark. I now have a single Global Link key that will open both doors and all lockable compartments. In the process, I also made two compartments lockable that previously weren't (swapped out the thumb turns for a lockable cylinder). I left the propane door alone, but made the compartments for the Level Up controller & batteries, and the Level Up hydraulics hardware lockable).

In addition to the better security of not using the universal CH751 key, another really nice benefit is that the global link keys are symmetric, so I don't have to worry about inserting the compartment key "upside down".

I also made all of the compartment locks and thumb turns consistent in terms of position/orientation and rotation direction (the factory installs were seemingly random).

Changing everything out was super easy, all it took was a phillips screw driver and a 7/8" wrench.

On the doors, I used the magic Global Link "change" key to swap out just the lock cylinders themselves, but if you can't get a change key, you can swap out the whole lock assembly almost as easily (just order one to match the key code of the other door).

That sounds great. Where did you order all the "stuff" to convert? I've been ready to do this since I bought my TT....

I got everything from http://www.rvlocksandmore.com/, except the change key, they won't sell you that unless you're an RV dealer or a locksmith (and they really will check). If you can't find one, see if the local RV dealer has one they'll let you use in the parking lot (it's a 10 second job). If that doesn't work out, just swap out the entire lock assembly like I mentioned earlier.

There is nothing universal on my 311 impact, I have 7 keys crazy. The fresh water stays locked keep the door from flapping. Quartzsite next year I'll have every thing keyed the same. The 2 entry doors are keyed different.
