Picking up Carbon 337 next week - PDI suggestions?

Hey everyone, picking up our new Carbon 337 next week! .

Anyone have any specific issues to look for during the PDI? I read the thread about crud in the fuel station tank. Anything else with these models?

Moving up from a Lance truck camper, this is our first fiver.

You can print off the forum sticky PDI Sheet. Nothing beats a top notch PDI.

Nothing.

Good luck and welcome to the forum from Kansas City, MO!

Glad to hear you found the forum's PDI. I suggest your take that list and mark it up adding those unique features that attracted you to a TH. I generally sugguest that you notify the dealer that you plan on doing a thorough walk through so he can schedule a tech for that period. I have always thought 3-4 hour was reasonable. You also need to establish a strategy to address how to handle issues found. . This walk through is extremely important and should not be rushed !!

Good Luck

Sorry about that. That was not really very nice. Consider it, well, look at all the search training he got!

A couple of carbons have had roof membranes that were improperly glued. So keep a close eye on the front of the roof for wrinkles during the first few trips.

I'd also want to drop the AC vent covers and inspect to see if the "typical" Keystone tape job on the vents is present in your RV.

Watch allignment of the slides. Make sure the seals aren't binding on the slides themselves. Check for proper adjustment of the cables (they shouldn't be sloppy).

I don't think the Carbon is any more problematic than any other model, btw...

I immediately replaced the tires on mine.

Sailun S637. You've got a few options. Lots of threads on tires.
Even if you don't replace them, do have them balanced.

yeah, I've been reading a few of them, seems like the Sailuns are a very popular choice. I'm gonna see what's on there now, do more research and go from there. Thanks!

Our Fuzion came with the Sailuns...so far they've been great. G rated 14 ply so they are heavy. Make sure the wheels can handle the 110 psi these tires can be aired up to.

If you haven't picked it up yet, see if you can get them to pull at least one wheel and show you the brakes are good. I picked up my 371 Fuzion last year, drove it home 300 miles and the brakes were trashed. I ended up changing all 4 brake packages. Two of the rear seal on one side were not even installed properly and the bearings needed packing. I live on the west coast so these units are dragged 2500 miles by guys, I'm sure, that would rather use the trailer brakes than their own. Probably doesn't happen all the time, but if I ever buy another I'll take it apart, if I have to, before I leave the lot.....

I brought it home Wednesday, brakes felt fine driving, but I'll take a closer look this weekend, thanks for the tip!

From the last two posts I assume CA does not have annual inspections on its vehicles including RV's There is a reason for thorough annual inspections "Safety"

Our annual inspections are a joke... As long as the lights work and nothing is falling off, you're good.

I have a 327. The dual axle brakes do some supplemental braking, but will not lock up even with the trailer mostly unloaded on gravel... Bearings/seals have been inspected. New truck.

Nope. I remember "check stations" set up randomly by local law enforcement when I was a kid. Even they weren't anything that could take the vehicle out of service, more of a lights and brakes IIRC as I wasn't old enough to care. They didn't check for seat belts that's for sure...5 of us in the back of a '64 Dodge Dart wagon.
Mandatory inspection is a safety check when first registering a vehicle from out of state.
