Should furnace fan turn off? Cougar 312RES
I have a Keystone Cougar Travel Trailer 321RES.
I noticed that when the heat was turned on, the fan ran continuously. The heat was at the proper temperature. I thought the fan only ran when the heating element was fired up. In a home heating system, there is a setting for "Auto" and "Continuous". With "Auto", the fan only runs when heating.

Typical RV furnace operation is fan on for 30 seconds to purge system and activate sail switch. This in turn sequences spark and has flow
The fan will run continuously until set temp on thermostat is reached and when burner shuts off fan runs 1 to 2 more minutes to purge system

In that case I have a problem as it does not shut off.
Any clue how to go about fixing it?

More information would be helpful. What make/model is the t'stat? Maybe a picture would help.

You might want to check to see if you have an AUTO setting on your fan. If you have it set to on position the fan will continue to run. When you switch it will shut off as needed.

Look closely because when I picked mine up the tech told me to make sure I set the fan to auto or it will run all the time. I looked and there was an auto setting for the fan

I will look. This is something new. Prior to my trip last week, the fan ran in "auto" mode

Hi Keithbook,
Another possibility that your thermostat is not properly calibrated, try reducing the temp setting switch after you reach target temp. If the fan turns off in a reasonable timeframe, you found your problem. Some thermostats have an adjustment to raise or lower the "setpoint", check the back.
Good Luck,

Problem Solved.
The thermostat has 4 modes: Off, Fan, Cool and Heat.
I assumed clicking on the fan as the choice, just ran the fan and had a low and high output mode.
I discovered it also has an "Auto" mode. When I set it to "Auto", the fan in heat mode only ran when heating. The same was true for the AC.
Thanks to all for your insight.
