Anderson 5th Wheel Hitch or Kingpin?
I purchased a new 2017 Montana 3921 this past February. I decided to try the Anderson Ultimate 5th Wheel Hitch. During installation, I couldn't get the coupling to slide on the kingpin far enough to insert the retainer bolts. The coupling was getting jammed up on the sides of the kingpin. Anderson immediately sent another coupling out. It did not fit either. I thought the kingpin might be out of round. what gives?
I did rotate the coupling 90 degrees and still no side to side play.

On my coupler I have to twist the tee handle unlock the slide bolt , the ball and coupler supplied with the hitch should be easy pull after unlocking the tee handle.

My suggestion would have been to measure the diameter of your king pin at the mounting bolt and call Andersen. But, I see you already called and they already responded - pretty much as I would have expected, as they've always been surprisingly helpful the few times I've called with questions. Hope the new adapter block fits perfectly for you!

As promised, Anderson hitch sent me a new Coupler. It slipped right on. I hitched the RV up to the new dually for the first time and it pulled great.
Initially, I was a little skeptical that the Anderson Ultimate 5th Wheel Hitch would function as promised. It just doesn't look as strong as a traditional 5th wheel hitch. And with the issues I had with the coupler, I was even more skeptical. But how many companies would do what Anderson did?
After installing the coupler, I saw that this was going to be a sturdy platform. And after towing, I know I made a good purchase.

I've been using the Andersen for 5-6 years now and very happy with it.

If you leave the trailer with a dealer for service, be sure to remove the Andersen coupler, they are very likely to damage it moving the trailer around.
