Cougar HC Stair Remodel Project

In case anyone's interested:

http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/sho...576#post139576

Also, if anyone with a 299RKS can get me a picture of the original stair configuration I would really appreciate a copy. I forgot to take one before I started tearing it apart!

I can do that, but not while it is raining. It would have to be tomorrow evening if it can wait.

Thanks so much. They complete my album. It's great to see the before and after pictures. I think I'm going to add a hand rail on the bathroom side at some point.

That looks great. My dachshund needs smaller steps like that.

After spending a month in Galveston this past winter, modifying the steps was a necessary evil. I went about it a little differently but do like the open area under the first step. It would be a great alternative to slipping shoes under the entertainment center. Good Job Poppy !!!

Lookin' good! I don't know why they weren't built with the additional step originally. It would have been so easy to just move the top landing in a few inches to give the extra room for but, oh well, this works.

Many of the 2015 models do have 2 or even 3 steps. I'm not sure how Keystone "got away with it" like they did, but RVIA doesn't say much about it, however the "national building code" has a 9" maximum rise for steps. Ours were upwards of 11".

I agree, it would be so much better, both in function and in looks to simply have moved the upper deck cutout forward 2 or 3 inches and installed 3 steps when building these things.

Both my DW and I really find it much easier to get up and down now. We both were having knee/hip problems in Galveston just from climbing those steps. I wouldn't think it made that much difference, but it does.

Ain't "getting old" a "pain" <sigh>
