Yup. I agree with all of the above. Again, I did not mean to imply that the original advice was somehow poor, and I also did not mean to imply that the OP would be better off following the mode of attack that I personally would prefer. And I agree that kicking the can down the road to the dealer under warranty is nearly always the safest option, when possible.
