Over the years, we have made numerous trips up and down the Oregon coast and camped in almost all of the state parks along the ocean. With each passing year, it becomes harder and harder to find vacant sites - especially during the summer months.
If you are thinking of trying to book reservations for August, I would start now. You'd be surprised at how fast the campsites are taken. Yes, it is very necessary to book asap to avoid disappointment and seeing the "Campsite Full" sign in most if not all of the State Parks along the coast.
