Not to rain on anyone's parade but they are dangerous to your health. They are the perfect environment for mold and easily create it. In an ice maker in a freezer compartment this is not a problem but ice kept melting around 50 degrees can and does create mold. Use for a day or so is fine if then allowed to dry out but constant use is a danger. And use only distilled water. I had serious health problems over this use. Once getting mold you cannot get rid of it, and bleach will destroy the ice maker. Elderly are especially susceptible to this.
