The shafts are threaded. You can buy aluminum threaded rod extensions to screw onto the shaft to make it as long as needed to place "through that little hole". They are "limited in function" in that they require a "straight line from the threaded shaft to the little hole"...

There are also "bowden cable assemblies" (flexible mechanisms) that screw onto the threaded shaft and can be routed around obstacles or make turns to reach "that little hole".

You can also buy "threaded couplers" and "threaded rod" at any hardware store and make your own in any length required, should you want to do it yourself rather than rely on the "relatively expensive aluminum threaded rods from an RV parts store.
