I am now a retired rider but did put in some 28 years of road and dirt riding in my home state of Oregon. The Oregon coast has some spectacular scenery and also a lot of small towns to pass through on 101. Weather can change from one area to another and we found an electric vest to be a great investment in comfort for the changing climates even in late summer. Side roads leading along the rivers and streams away from the coast can be great bike roads but they will get filled up with traffic, as you get closer to the roads leading to Portland. Check your maps, the real squiggly roads are great for bikes but not commuting, lower traffic.
