The foam pads are great, waffle ones are what we use in the dealership body shop where I work. They have been around since about 1993. Now we use air buffers an da's not electric so make sure you are using a slow speed when starting your waxing.

Have to watch for sharp edges and corners because you will shred the foam pad quickly if you contact something sharp.
