Yes been doing it for 40 years. Works for me.

I used to have a F350 with a 460 that was converted to propane. Had a 80 gallon tank in the box and I filled 20 pounders off of that. At the time I was paying 30-35 cents a gallon for auto propane. I could fill the 20's for a fraction of what it cost retail.
