IMHO #1 should be mandatory for ALL rvs, too many electronic gizmos in these rvs today to not use one, it's cheap insurance.
Both of these should be used EVERY time you hook up, even if hooked at your home, not just when you think you'll need them.
This is from my/our experiences in last 10 years fulltiming.
I totally agree! We have them from our previous trailer, so they didn't make the list of things to do.
