On ours the Roku button just selects the HDMI 3 input port. It's not a smart TV so you have to have a Roku device plugged in to the port. There's no monthly fee for the device, you purchase it and when you connect it to the internet you can stream video from the various "channels" that are available. Some are pay some are free.
