Thanks. Yes, although this should keep the heavy water off the genny's most sensitive parts, I also thought about having a white tarp made. I would want it to form fit to cover the gas tank (reducing heat expansion) and drape down about halfway on three sides (obviously can't cover the exhaust outlet!) to help protect the genset even further - but still allowing it to have enough air to breathe and cool properly.
