When our oldest daughter was a senior in HS we bought her a new Nissan Sentra. Her first year of college she drove home and said her engine was running rough. Opened the hood and some "critters" made a nest and feasted on the spark plug wires. Then it was made from soybeans. The missing sections of insulation looked just like your "cut" wires.

I'd run a wire from the nearest clearance light with a fish tape and inspect the other lights for signs of damage while you've got the ladder and tools out.
