Wheel/rim limitations are very basic. The very basic size must be approved by the tire manufacturer. The specifications are established by the wheel manufacturer and certified by SAE. Their limitations are 1. Load capacity. 2. PSI limited for the load capacity of the wheel with approved valve stem equal to the task. The rim width must be within the rim size range established by the tire manufacturer.

Bottom line; Replacement tires MUST provide a load capacity via inflation pressure that will equal or exceed the load capacity of the OE tires fitted and inflated by the vehicle manufacturer. Look at any tire manufacturer’s SOPs for replacement tires and you will find a statement that supports that standard. Talk is talk, manufacturer published info is their standard for fitment of their tires.

Tires manufactured "off shore" will often display the acceptable rim size on their sidewalls. See reference below. That's a LRG Westlake tire.
