You indicated your GMC is 8 years old so guessing it’s a 2011 model Duramax? If you’ve got the integrated brake control from the factory I’d be looking at the brake control module as suspect...

This has a constant signal voltage always back to 7 way wire harness plug ..

The Alpine is most likely not causing the issue and you could verify the total resistance seen at the Alpine male 7 way plug

An active voltage to the ECM is what’s keeping the engine running

All four brake magenta are in parallel and if you measure male 7 way plug on pins 1 and 2 you are looking for around 14 ish ohms

If this reads correctly then it eliminates any issues with brake and ground wires to Alpine
