Airstream does (always has) have a number of trailer models with "right hand swing" hinges. Why they choose to do that with outswing doors is something I can't answer. I will say that they don't use "Dexter doors" or "Lippert doors" on their trailers. They are all "custom doors" built by the Airstream factory and they typically have die-cast frames, not welded or extruded aluminum frames. I've often wondered the same thing as you, "Why would they do that, it looks dangerous to me".....
I will say that our Airstream door opened "properly" and not "backerds to reason".... but .....
