That fly/hotel thing is always something to consider on any trip of distance these days. Lot's of "specials" going on Disney area hotels...another thing to consider is the
www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner). We have used it several times and had good experiences. Some condos are available very close to the Disney entrance; like 10 minutes by car. You also need to consider a rental vehicle if you plan to be in the area more than a few days.
Lot's of interesting things to do and see in the Orlando area.
Just like camping....planning and the trip are at least 1/2 the fun....in the end; dollar wise; I'll bet the choice comes out about even
