Many owners have to remove one panel to access the HW heater but it seems unusual to have to remove two. The only time I have to remove the single panel is during the winterizing and de-winterizing processes. I am not one of those who drain and refill the HW tank after and/or before each trip. Been doing this since Day 1 without any issues.
Since I only remove and replace the single panel twice during the season, gaining access to the bypass valve is not a big problem for me but I can see in some cases for some people it might be.
