Very close to what I did on a way long gone Kountry Aire 5er. Nothing in the '70s on any RV was 'standard' then. I also added a conventional dead bolt too on that 5er as we were having a theft problem in our neighborhood at the time.
There are simple DIY solutions to most anything on an RV and drop in isn't always the better way since a mfr does it the easiest/fastest, least expensive for their bottom line profit number, i.e. piecework
