I originally purchased the same size and load rating Carlisle tire from 3 different tire merchants. All 3 companies brought in LRDs that had DOT dates at 1 year old. I rejected all 3 sets. I finally took a chance on LREs from Wal-Mart and they turned out to be less than 3 months old. Point being, inventories can get stale and trailer tires have a definitive life expectancy from the "born on date". 3-5 years is your replacement window. If you're conservative like me, I wanted to be sure that I got 3 full service seasons from time of purchase.
