^^This! I know you mentioned that everything worked at one time, but after we got our 2019 Cougar 29BHS with In Command, I downloaded the first app in the Play store and it "kinda" worked, but not like it was supposed to. The next morning, I downloaded the second app in the list to my wife's phone and it worked perfectly! Also, as someone else mentioned, Bluetooth connectivity plays a part. Our main phones are Galaxy S8+. But, we have a pre-paid Verizon J1 for times that we might not have the best service. I downloaded the app onto that phone and it doesn't work nearly as well with the Bluetooth connection. The awning will stop and start. The slide will stop and start. When we go back to our regular phones, everything works fine.
