If you know what route you are taking check the state web site for tunnel restrictions. The state web sites usually provide a link to tunnels and tolls within the state. They should give you alternative routes if they have restrictions.
Most of the tunnels I've traveled through only require the valves to be closed while traveling through. Some have signs for trailers to pull to the side and be inspected to make sure the valves are closed. I suppose there are exceptions, I haven't experienced any yet.
