Back in the early 70's the Italian Gov'mt. decieded to stop minting 5 & 10 Lire pieces (the neichi and dieaci[sp?]). They were made of aluminum, so light in weight that you colud float them [on water. At the time $1.00 = 625 Lire. 1000 L was roughly $1.25. The shopkeepers would give out hard candies for change instead ....
Made it easy to convert K/hr to mph and the other way too.

And you told me a few months ago that I was inputing to much when I said I'd put my nickle in. Even when I told you I was attempting to allow for exchange rates and inflation .......
