Thanks for your help and that makes sense. I'm curious - at this point, isn't this just a battery cable connector that goes from that port on the frame directly to my battery? Because if that is all it is (in other words, nothing else behind this port except wire going to the battery), I could just use it now to connect to a regular ac-powered battery tender. If that's the case then there really isn't anything "solar" about it - it's just an SAE battery connector; and all of the solar charger controller part of the solar kit would be external (and not built in my RV already). I can't see behind this port on my unit to see if all that's back there is wire or something more.
