You'd probably find them happier and having more fun if you just head south to Yosemite, spend 2 or 3 days "exploring and conquering", then head to an amusement park and let them "run wild".... Take lots of photos, they'll all be smiles and good memories... On the other hand, if you do try to make a round robin trip from Portland/Yosemite/Red Rocks/Yellowstone/Glacier/Portland, the travel time (per google maps) is 58 hours. Doing that trip in one week is the same as expecting your two kids to work 18 hours overtime at a full time job..... It won't be fun for them. YMMV
Yeah, when I was 8 (almost 9) and my sister was 6, we took a long family trip from Texas, up to Mt Rushmore, over to the badlands, down through Jackson Hole, down to Pike's Peak, down through New Mexico and back to Texas, towing our 19' Terry. Like 5,000 miles. That trip last almost 5 weeks. (For comparison).
